At Abney Catahoulas, we have spent many years researching the Catahoula's history, genetic disposition, temperament, and diseases that affect the Catahoula.  We believe that with proper training a Catahoula can do anything you desire. We have developed a breeding program for our dogs that has been adopted by many other breeders. Ensuring that the dogs being bred are both mentally and physically healthy, and with stable temperaments is paramount. Although we do not hunt or work dogs in the traditional fashion, all of our bloodlines come from lineages that have performed in all of those fields.  We specialize in dogs with good noses that are capable of tracking and blood trailing for hunters, and work Search and Rescue with ease.
